Alkukesän odotetuimpia elokuvia lienee George Millerin eeppinen Furiosa: A Mad Max Story -esiosa, jonka pääosissa nähdään Anya Taylor-Joy ja Chris Hemsworth.
Elokuvan tapahtumat sijoittuvat 16 vuoden ajanjaksolle, aina Fury Roadin tapahtumiin saakka. Dementus (Hemsworth) on kidnapannut Furiosan (Taylor-Joy) ja tämä pyrkii pääsemään pakoon hullulta sotalordilta.
Muissa rooleissa ovat muun muassa Tom Burke Praetorian Jackina ja Lachy Hulme Immortan Joena.
