Just like Jennifer Lawrence in the film, I felt like I was constantly being tortured while watching RED SPARROW. An overly long, boring, & tedious film that just kept going and going. Also, the actors have some of the worst accents that I’ve seen in a very long time. #RedSparrow

I kept waiting for something interesting to happen in RED SPARROW but it never did. The opening 5 minutes is great but quickly becomes dull & repetitive. It was like watching Jennifer Lawrence play a robot for 2 plus hours as she just stared blankly into the camera. #RedSparrow

My #RedSparrow review will post tomorrow on @flickeringmyth, but for now let me say this is *not* the J-Law action flick you’re expecting. Maybe something between Hitchcock and Verhoeven, but never as deceptive or shocking. Very psychological/sexual exploitation-y (and…eek).

I spent most of the time thinking about who else could have played Jennifer Lawrence’s role in #RedSparrow. The accent was the least of it. But, it’s actually not a terrible movie. Just… made me uncomfortable in some areas.

#RedSparrow is certainly a different kind of spy thriller, but it’s as unpleasant as it is overlong. Spending over 2 hours in this grim world of sad, screwed-up people is quite numbing.
